The choice is vast,  since casinos first launched on the net the amount of companies trying to cash in on the success is vast! Microgaming was one of the first companies to create an online gaming product, they launched one of the first online casinos. The other big starter was ‘cryptologic’  but unlike Microgaming they are no longer around. (they were bought out by Amay and later on Wagerworks) . Microgaming , however, are still around and very much a powrhouse in the world of online gaming.

Playtech are the other online gaming giant, infact almost every single bookmaker in the UK run Playtech software, either for their poker  clients or their slots and casino platform. Playtech also own a large % of the William Hill online operations, although William hill have been trying to buy back their shares over the years.

I find Playtech slots to be very basic, they haven’t been very innovative over the years, all slots seem to follow the same formula i.e. pretty dull in play games, then you hit a bonus feature which is 15x free spins at 3x multiplier etc etc. One exception is a great slot called deep blue, a super high variance slot where you can win big if you hit the feature right. For example, you can win 25 free spins with up to 15x multipliers!

Microgaming have launched quite a few branded slots over the years for example a ‘lord of the rings’ slot was launched a few years ago (and then pulled again due to licensing issues) other featured games include Jurrasic Park. Personally I’m not a fan of these slots, first of all they have to pay for the license to the film makers, this cost obviously gets past on to the consumer in the form of a lower RTP, secondly this sends the wrong message out to kids, gambling is for adults only! creating slots with a theme of a children’s film is just wrong. Playtech are no different as they have created slots based on the Marvel film  series.
